CLEAR CUTTING is the most popular way of collecting wood in Finland. The method is cheap and fast, but a clear-cut area will never fully recover. This is one of the biggest reasons why biodiversity in Finnish forests keeps on declining.

This project is based on the story of a Finnish girl, Anna, and her family after the complete loss of one of the forests that accompanied the family for years. This loss is accompanied by the loss of a complete ecosystem as well.

The installation combines digital photographs, old scanned images, and a short video. They criticize and show the viewer a reality that occurs in the Finnish forests these days: deforestation and the loss of ecosystems little by little. The spectator will walk through this installation which is an attempt to create an ideal atmosphere between the combi-nation of these elements.

AVOHAKKUU on suurimmista syistä siihen, että suomalaismetsien biodiversiteetti heikkenee edelleen.

Tämä projekti kertoo suomalaisesta Anna-tytöstä ja hänen perheestään, joiden elämään vuosia kuulunut metsä tuhottiin täysin. Metsän myötä katosi kokonainen ekosysteemi.

Installaatio koostuu uusista digitaalisista ja vanhoista skannatuista kuvista sekä lyhyestä videosta. Niissä tarkastellaan kriittisesti todellisuutta, johon törmää parhaillaan Suomen luonnossa: metsien ja ekosysteemien vääjäämätöntä katoamista. Kulkiessaan läpi installaation voi katsoja aistia nämä molemmat elementit.
