WE ARE DEVOURING the resources of our only planet. We are destroying it for ourselves and for the future generations. And the material that embodies the situation is – without any doubt – plastic.

In the beginning, plastic was Revolutionary. It made life easier and lasted forever – which turned out to be the very problem. Plastic is disintegrating into smaller and smaller fragments that enter the food chain. We eat plastic. We eat ourselves.

The installation consists of sculptural ready-mades of masturbation sex toys for men and a photo-graphic backdrop. The pieces explore outdated Patriarchal views of the world, where mother nature is just there as a marine property to be used and Exploited by men.

The fascination and disgust that those items produce are just a mirror of how now people perceive the thought of the rise of artificial Intelligence, the consumption of laboratory growing meat, human Genetic modifications, the robotization of society, etc. What is seen as a new world of possibilities and extraordinary potential for some people, is a terrifying, dehumanizing, anxiety-filled vision for others.

AHMIMME AINOAN planeettamme luonnonvaroja, tuhoten sen itseltämme ja tulevilta sukupolvilta. Kaikista materiaaleista tätä kehitystä ilmentää ylivoimaisesta parhaiten muovi.

Muovi oli aikanaan vallankumouksellinen keksintö. Se helpotti elämää ja kesti ikuisesti – mikä juuri osoittautuikin sittemmin ongelmaksi. Muovi hajoaa pienempiin ja pienempiin osiin päätyen lopulta ravintoketjuumme. Syömme muovia. Syömme itsemme.

Installaation muodostavat veistokselliset, masturbointiin tarkoitetut miesten seksilelut ja valokuvatausta. Niiden kautta tarkastellaan vanhentunutta patriarkaalista kuvaa maailmasta, jossa luontoäidin osana on olla vain miesten riiston ja hyväksikäytön kohteena.

Seksilelujen herättämä ihastus ja inho vastaavat samoja tunteita, joita useimmat meistä kokevat ajatellessaan tekoälyn yleistymistä, laboratoriossa kasvatettua lihaa, ihmisen geneettistä muuntelua, yhteiskunnan robotisoitumista jne. Kehitys, joka joillekin edustaa uutta upeiden mahdollisuuksien maailmaa, tuntuu toisista kammottavalta, epäinhimilliseltä ja ahdistavalta.
