Nutrient cycling and circular economy in the food industry

03.10.2019

The CICAT2025 team works in close collaboration with industry, business and other development organisations to identify catalysts that have the potential to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. We organise co-creation workshops where different stakeholders take an in-depth look at the catalysts in a specific sector to ecosystem in the space of a day. Our first workshop, which took place on 28 May 2019, was organised in cooperation with Sitra and focused on food chains and nutrient cycles.

The goals of the first workshop were to identify catalysts, build contacts and test the new workshop concept. We will continue to refine the concept throughout the project by testing a range of co-creation methods. The development of the concept will be openly documented on the CICAT2025 website.

What resulted from the first co-creation workshop was the below matrix that sums up the catalysts that have the potential to promote nutrient cycling and the development of a regenerative food system. The catalysts are placed along the impact and temporal axes of the matrix based on the scope of their predicted impact and the expected timeline for the changes to take place.
